2025 Elections: Information
The Executive Council of the AILC-ICLA is elected at the time of each Congress; its term lasts until the following Congress (thus normally 3 years).
Since 2022, elections have been held online.
The President, 4 Vice Presidents, 2 Secretaries, 3 Treasurers and 16 members of the Executive Council will be elected (with two more members of the Executive Council selected from the list of non-elected candidates, as described in article IV of the Statutes).
The procedures for the nomination of candidates are described on the page describing the Elections of officers and members of the Executive Council.
The list of candidates for election to the Executive Committee and the positions of Officers (2025-28) proposed by the Nominating Committee (approved by the Executive Council on 7 March 2025) and their short biographies can be found at 2025 Election: Nominating Committee’s Candidates and biographies.
As explained in the information on the Elections of officers and members of the Executive Council, this list can be supplemented by additional nominations made by AILC-ICLA members in good standing; however, no further nominations were received.
The ballot paper will also invite members to vote on proposed amendments to the Statutes.
The ballot paper will furthermore include the ratification of Chairs of Standing Research Committees (according to article VII of the Statutes).
The Election Process
The online elections will open on 10 July 2025 at 00:01 CEST (Paris time) and close on 30 July 2025 at 23.59 CEST (Paris time).
In order to take part in the elections, voters should be members of the AILC-ICLA in good standing at least 3 weeks before the opening of the elections (by 19 June 2025). This will ensure the accuracy of the electoral register. Individual members as well as Member Associations should ensure that their membership data and fees are up to date by that deadline.
When the elections open, members will be sent by email a unique link to the ballot paper.
Voters can only vote once.
To ensure the integrity and security of the elections, they will be conducted via an electronic platform that will then certify the elections result. We shall confirm, in good time, the name of the platform and the address from which voters can expect to receive the emails with individual links to the ballot paper. We advise you to make a note of this address and save it among your safe senders list, to prevent emails going into the spam.
All data will be handled in accordance with GDPR standards of data protection.
