Chairs of Standing Research Committees to be ratified by electronic ballot as part of the 2025 elections.

Ratification by the membership of the Chair of a Standing Research Committee is required by the Statutes in order to give these Chairs a vote in the Executive Council. (Note: several Standing Research Committees have co-chairs, but only 1 is ratified as voting member of the Executive Council.)

Members are asked to ratify the following, as part of the 2025 electronic elections:

Professor Florian Mussgnug, Chair of the Coordinating Committee for the Comparative History of Literatures in European Languages Series (CHLEL)

Professor E.V. Ramakrishnan, Chair of the ICLA Standing Research Committee on South Asian Literatures and Cultures

Professor Stefan Buchenberger, Chair of the Comics Studies and Graphic Narrative Standing Research Committee

Professor Tegan Zimmerman, Chair of the Standing Research Committee on Comparative Gender Studies 

Professor Haun Saussy, Chair of the Research Committee on the Comparative History of East Asian Literatures

Professor Anne Duprat, Chair of the Standing Research Committee on Literary Theory

Professor Chengzhou He, Chair of the Scriptural Reasoning and Comparative Studies Standing Research Committee

Professor Youngmin Kim, Chair of the Translation Studies Standing Research Committee

Professor Lobna Ismail, Chair of the Standing Research Committee on Arabic Comparative Literature 

Professor Kitty Millet, Chair of the Standing Research Committee on Religion, Ethics and Literature

Note: If the proposed amendment to Article VII of the ICLA Statutes is approved, the vote by the full membership to ratify Chairs of Standing Research Committees will no longer be needed after this year, as Chairs will be ratified by the Executive Council to permit the full functioning of a Standing Research Committee when its Chair changes between the triennial elections.
